Should you use a smart scale? Not a shot at his v

Should you use a smart scale?

Not a shot at his video for once 🤣 (of course blocked me for calling out his misinformation)

While I’m skeptical about the absolute accuracy of BIA technology, that’s not really what I’m so concerned about

We have more access to data and metrics than ever before

🔸Sleep trackers
🔸Fitness trackers
🔸Smart scales

But even with all of that…

The recommendations on how to be healthy are largely the same

▪️Lift weights
▪️Do cardio
▪️Eat a nutritious, varied diet of mostly Whole Foods
▪️Don’t have too much body fat
▪️Sleep + manage stress
▪️Don’t smoke

You know the list...

The question is…

Does having this extra data from a smart scale or fitness tracker MOTIVATE you to do the healthy stuff you already know you’re supposed to be doing?

Or does it feel overwhelming?

In my personal experience with myself and working with thousands of people over the last decade+ is that it can truly go either way

I’m not pro or anti smart scales or sleep trackers etc…

But they aren’t going to provide you with some special hack

They’ll either be something you find fun and motivating

Or something you find fussy / overwhelming

It’s fine if you love them

And it’s fine if you don’t

What matters is that you have things that motivate you to do the healthy foundational habits that let you live your life to the fullest

The FitNeSs SpAcE has made it seem like 3x/wk lift

The FitNeSs SpAcE has made it seem like 3x/wk lifting is like some sort of bs where you make no progress, build no muscle, and get no benefit

3x/wk is incredible

You can build lots of muscle and extract most if not ALL of the health benefits of resistance training with 3 quality workouts per week.

Sure, you won’t be a pro bodybuilder training 3x/wk

But a few years of 150 workouts per year and I bet you’re THRILLED with the results.

Ghee vs Seed oils 😱 PMID: 38501177 No, I’m

Ghee vs Seed oils 😱

PMID: 38501177

No, I’m not saying that seed oils will make you lose weight

But yet again this fear mongering around seed oils makes absolutely no sense

Every study ever done in humans where they swap out SFA (saturated fat) for PUFAs (polyunsaturated fats) shows a neutral to positive effect

This is not me saying “go chug seed oils to get healthier”

But the human data to support swapping out seed oils for saturated fats like butter, ghee, tallow etc just flat out does not exist.

There are certain topics where we get into an issue of “well, there’s some research on both sides” and discerning which research is more powerful and what the weight of the totality of the evidence says can be challenging for the lay person to figure out

This just isn’t one of those times

Sigh, at this point I’ll settle for just not f*cking worrying about them so much

You don’t need to ask the chef to cook your food in a specific oil

You don’t need to leave the restaurant if they won’t

You need to focus on the big rocks of nutrition and metabolic health

Eat a diverse diet with lots of plants, enough protein, not too many calories

Lift weights, do some cardio, manage body composition, get enough sleep, manage stress, get outside, have meaningful human connections…

Not worry about what oil your food is cooked with

If you are genuinely interested in the research on seed oils in humans here is a good place to start:
